  1. Hitting your head on a springboard or platform is very unlikely so long as you are under the supervision of a qualified diving instructor who has got you to go through the steps in order to help you execute the dive gracefully and safely...

for instance when i first wanted to learn an inward dive from the 1 meter springboard i first had to do quite a few back jumps until they were at a satisfactory level, i then had to do back jump tucks, and only after both of those were at a satisfactory level was i allowed to go for the inward dive...

from then i went onto inward dive from the 3 meter platform + 5 meter platform, and currently can execute an inward flip and a half from a 5 meter platform a safe distance from the board and have never came close to hitting the board.

Just remember don't try things you are not confident in trying or are far more technical than the level you are at, diving takes time to move up, but you will get there in the end with patience and practice.

    hope this helps
