Health Insurance question... What would you do?

I am 6 weeks pregnant - confirmed by doctor, making me ineligible to apply for health insurance (everyone turning me down). My employer doesn't offer benefits, but I make $101 too much to qualify for Medicaid - and my understanding is that once you've been denied, you have to wait a full year to re-apply. I have been looking for a new job before I start showing too much, but can't afford a pay cut or I won't be able to afford my monthly bills. Plus the job market here in NC kinda' sucks right now as it seems everyone is moving here. What would you suggest?

  1. In addition to Lori S' suggestion I would also contact your local Family Services Division - they would  be able to help you too.

  2. When you applied for medicaid, were you pregnant? Many states allow more income (some up to 400%) over the guidelines to qualify. You can apply as many times as needed. There is no restriction. Contact your Social Services office and re-apply. The state wants to take care of you and your baby.
