  1. I have a health credential.

You have to remember that health is a class that student take only once in their hs career. This means that there are less positions than teachers of say english. If you get multiple credentials - you raise your job options.

To get a credential - youll need a BA. once you complete your degree, you'll need a post-bac graduate degree from a state approved program (usually the college where you received your BA has an education program) Once you finish the classes (1-2 years) youll have tests and student teaching. When all these requirements are finished, the school applies to the state on your behalf.

The key is the tests - they are called subject matter verification tests - you can take as many as you feel qualified for - I took and received credentials in math, biology, health and geosciences. I currently teach math, science and health in a middle school.

    good luck!~

  2. four years of college to get your teaching certification.....usually the PE teachers end up teaching the health classes in our high school.

  3. You need more than just "college courses" ... you would need to be accepted into a program that would prepare you to become a teacher.  Different colleges do it different ways.  You should look into a few universities and have them tell you what programs they have available.  Most colleges can have you through in four years, though I know at Ohio State, their teacher preparation program is a five year program that rolls an undergraduate degree and a masters into one.
