  1. Health and Dental are two separate policies and very few individual health plan have a dental option. Generally, you pay as much in premiums with dental as you get in benefits.

For health insurance you should check your college. Many colleges have plans available for students. If they don't there are companies that have student plans or you can get a regular individual policy. Visit a local agent that works with all the major companies in your area to see what options are available.

  2. Probably best to do some homework about your confusing area. Here is a great start point.http://health-insurance.expert-tip.info/...

  3. First check with your college.  Sometimes they have group policies available for students.  If not, see an insurance broker that handles health insurance.

  4. All colleges are different, but the ones my family and I have attended all offered a guaranteed issue "limited benefit" plan. Other than not being a good value these policies are not portable, meaning that when you leave school you once again have to go looking for insurance. Also you usually have to go the on campus clinic as your primary care provider.

Call a local agent and look for an individual policy. The policies available depend on where you live. An experienced agent can narrow down your options to one that best fits your needs, and that you can afford in just a few minutes. The best part about an individual policy is that you own it, not your employer or a school. As long as you continue to pay the premiums, the policy is yours. Unlike auto insurance, you cannot be singled out for a rate increase, nor can the insurance company cancel your policy based on your claims experience.
