My best friend drinks one of those Monster Energy drinks nearly every day, and I'm a little concerned. Are there any risks (now or in the future) that she should be worried about?

  1. No.

If used as intended and in moderation then there is no problems with it. Red Bull recommends only 1 to 2 a day. The 2nd largest selling, which is also the 1st and largest healthy energy drink, XS Energy, also suggests 1 and no more than 2 a day. The Monster can is bigger so it counts as two so if they are only having one of those then they are good.

Many people take too many and that is what causes problems. Then once the problems occur eveybody that don't actually know anything claim that energy drinks themselves are bad.

I will stop here to keep this post short. If you want more information about what can happen with too many then ask.

  2. Well the ones with tons of sugar and caffeine aren't so great for you. If your friend insists on drinking boatloads of energy drinks have her try ones with more healthy ingredients. I found a healthy one here http://www.voernix.com/2008/07/frs.html and they give you a free trial. Works great for me.

  3. some of them have lots of sugar which could hurt her in the long run.  Better than those drinks is making sure to get all your vitamins every day, through a multi-vitamin if needed.  If she looks for sugar free ones, they should be better, but she still shouldn't drink them every day.

I take 5 hour energy every once in a while when I need a boost.  It helps me.
