so my health teacher is making do a vision board

and it has to be on about what we want to be when we grow up.

uhm i thought about pediatrician,homicide detective, or graphic desinger

which one should i choose?

and can you give me 5 steps on how to become one of those?

I would recommend Pediatrician.

I am not sure what grade you are in but after high school graduation here are some of the steps that you will take.

The first step will be to get a degree in Pre Medicine.

Your second step is to take a test called the MCAT (Medicine Comprehensive Apptitude Test).

The third step is to start looking at colleges where you want to go to Medical School.  They will call you for an interview and go over your MCAT scores and other information you put in the information sent to them such as about volunteer work you may have done in the community such as at hospitals in your area.

The fourth step is actual Medical School where depending on what school you choose to go they will have the students do strictly classroom work for the first 2 years of Medical School some of which will include from text books and the the 3rd and 4th years of Medical School they start to do clinical work.  The clinical work is where they start to work with patients learning to do things like take the history of the patient's health problems and also learn how to do physical exams.

The fifth step is after you graduate from Medical School.  In this time after passing certain other tests besides the ones for graduation from Medical School you then choose a specialty to go in to which in this case would be Pediatrics.  This is what they call Residency.  After you make your choice of Residency you sign up for a thing called a Match Service.  This service helps you find out which of the schools you want to do your residency at you will be able to get in to.  After that is chosen then you will spend about 3 years learning how to take care of strictly children.  Here you will learn about diseases that affect primarily children along with common health problems like chronic ear infections.  Also, learn how to understand labwork results for various blood tests as they relate to children such as white blood cell counts.

You will also learn more about how to examine children and deal with situations like if the child is afraid of needles (and many are because it is new to them).

I'm going to give you a 6th step but you can combine this under the 5th step, I am just doing it as a 6th step to break it down easier for you.

The 6th step is then when you graduate from the Residency program and start practicing in the area of the country you want to work in (if in the U.S. or similar for outside the U.S. but I'm going based on U.S. in case you are here in the U.S.).  You will practice for about 2 years first (depending on how the certification board for Pediatrics does their process for the new doctor to get board certified).  At this time the new doctor becomes what is called board eligible.  This means that after 2 years he or she is now eligible to take the board certification exam to become a board certified Pediatrician.  And then after he or she has been in practice for so many years (let's say 6 years) he will have to get his or her license to practice renewed for the State he or she lives in.  In some States  they require the doctor to take special kinds of classes called Continuing Medical Education as part of getting that license renewed.  The continuing medical education classes are designed to help the doctor stay current on new trends with in his or her specialty such as Pediatrics.
