Question:

Health insurance for preexisting conditions

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I've been denied health insurance under a private plan due to preexisting conditions and have to wait 3-5 months to be accepted into the CA high risk pool at a cost of $320/month which I really can't afford. Also, my employeer doesn't offer health insurance.

Does anyone know how to get coverage?

  1. I would try other independant companies.  When researching health insurance you might want to try and bookmark this site for research information, news, articles, insurance quotes, companies, links and more. It should have the resources to help you with your question.

  2. Pre-existing clauses normally only apply to health concerns you have actually sought medical care for in the period stated in the policy. If you can avoid for the few months, however long is required by that plan than do it.

My husband carries BC/BC AL on he and our children. We were debating cancelling my Medicare(for disability) and him carrying me on his policy as well. This is what I was told by them.

  3. There is no absolutely right answer for your question.Nonetheless, explorer the information here might give you some ideas.HOpe it helps.http://health-insurance.expert-tip.info/...

  4. You may be eligible for a guaranteed issue HIPAA individual health insurance plan.

There are 6 requirements that you must meet in order to be eligible for HIPAA in California (or any state).

Here is some more information to help you determine if you are eligible for HIPAA, some information on finding a plan when you have pre-existing conditions, and some information specifically on finding health insurance in California:

  5. I have included the link to the Dept of Health and Human Services which will give you more info about pre-existing conditions and how to help yourself in the future. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulates pre-existing conditions and how long a plan can not cover them. Also some good info should you leave this job in the future.

I don't know if this is an option, however, large group policies typically don't have pre-existing clauses and/or the will accept you with a waiting period.  If changing jobs is an option???

This site will also have a lot of good "general" health insurance information and you might want to check other local state options.

CAUTION-- I've seen people advertizing health insurance for people with pre-existing conditions on Answers...make sure you read the policy VERY carefully before signing up with an unknown company.  If interested you can search for previous pre-existing "Answers" here, however, I don't necessarily recommend some of the sites being offered...be careful and wise....good luck!!!
