  1. Medicaid is insurance the government offers to those who can't afford it.  If you don't have insurance or medicaid then you have a HUGE medical bill.....

  2. Well, I happen to work in the Health & Human Services field here in Texas. Medicaid is a State funded program for people who meet income and resource guidelines (low income)  The coverage usually last 6 months for most receipients with the exception of  Pregnant recipients  coverage being for 11 months and for newborns born to Medicaid eligible mothers 1 year of coverage.  What happens in Texas if you don't have any insurance and don't have Medicaid depends on your us citizenship status. Unfortunately, American citizens will be forced to cover the medical bill occured for the delivery. If you are illegal or undcomented you are given what is called TP 30 Medicaid which pays for the entire birthing procedure. On top of that, the baby born will be covered under TP43 Medicaid for the next 6 months.  Texas is pretty good about encouraging pregnant women with no health insurance on applying for Medicaid.

    I hope this helps.

  3. In america we have to pay alot for insurance, if the baby doesnt have insurance then usually medicaide will cover it

Medicaid is insurance for someone who has a low paying salary and a job that does not offer a health care plan to pay for, so medicaide is free insurance for underbudget families

If you dont have any health insurance at all or medicaide, you will have to loads of medical bills, amounting to way more than a nice brand new car, (sorry, i dont know Austrailian currency, so i improvised)
