i want to try out for cross country at my high school and well as standard procedure you need to hand in a physical signed by your doctor. the problem in my case is my mom was fired and no longer has health insurance, so now we can't go to a doctor. she applied for welfare since she's a single mother and she will be accepted for it but we do not know when. i believe welfare covers health insurance or something?

  1. There are places you can go to that will give you a physical exam for low cost. Sometimes they are called immediate medical care facilities. Also, talk to the nurse at your school and they might be able to do one there or recommend some ideas.

  2. I believe she may be eligible for medicaid coverage so you may want to find out about that, but I do think your school nurse could do it. It may take a bit of time for welfare/medicaid to get processed.
