For the vball team, u have to get a physical done a the doctor's before you tryouts (for us, that's the rules). And I love playing vball and all but I have had this heart or lung problem thing for a few months now. Ive been to the doc but he said it was heartburn. But i know its not heartburn cuz i know what heartburn feels like and ive had it before and this feels nothing like it. And my cuz also had heartburn before and she said to go to the doc again. It hurts when i inhale or swallow my food. So im getting a physical done fer vball, but idk if i should tell the doc about the heart thing cuz if they see that something is wrong, i wont be able to tryout and ive been working my butt off theses past two seasons to make the team and i dont wanna give it up like that. but on the other hand, ive been wanting this heart thing to go away too and get a treatment. my parents dont even think anything is wrong with me. so should i tell the doc or not? i can play vball n all. but idk what to do!

  1. one of my teammates has a heart condition. whenever she jumps too many times in a row like when games are fast paced her heart races and she needs to take a breather. Tell the dr. what is wrong you would rather sit one vball season than make whatever is wrong worse by playing

    good luck

  2. well there are many different types of heartburn. and i'm sure they don't all feel exactly the same. One way to get rid of heartburn is to eat a spoonful of mustard. And if that doesn't work ask your doctor if he can give you any prescription. And if it doesn't stop go to a different doctor and get a second opinion. But just because you've had heartburn before and your cousin also had it before doesn't mean that you can't feel different whenever you get it again. Doctors know what they're talking about so you should put more faith in your doctor.

  3. Well, for starters I wouldn't jump to conclusions about a heart or a lung problem. It sounds like you might be suffering from what I do... esophageal spasms. I have stomach, intestinal, and esophagus spasms that sometimes can feel like a heart attack.I have had Dr.'s misdiagnose me for years with acid reflux and I knew it wasn't because the chest pains didn't feel like indigestion.

Ask to go see a gastrointestinal Dr. You can get mild esophageal spasms from hot and cold foods, allergic reactions to foods, or spasms from acid reflux disease. The problem with spams is that Dr.'s aren't even really sure why they happen- they just do, and can be mild to severe. I suffered from multiple different types of spasms until my stomach dr. pin-pointed what was causing the pain. You can get a test done called a endoscopy, so see if your throat spases.

I played volleyball, taught volleyball, and coached volleyball for  years. I have a bunch of things wrong with me. If you want to play- play. If there was something severely wrong your dr. wouldn't let you intake in any heavy activity.

    Good Luck

  4. I would mention it to the doctor and also mention that you are seeing another doctor for the problem.  Tell the "physical" doctor that you have been diagnosed with heartburn.  Bring the other doctor's phone number.  Your health is much more important than volleyball.  To me, there are few things more important than volleyball.  Health is one of them.
