Health problems with dwarf bunnies.?

I've bought 4 dwarf bunnies throughout my life. All but 1 of them have died way too fast in my eyes. My first bunny I'm not sure of the circumstances cause I had to leave her at my parents due to moving over seas. She passed away. The 2nd one passed away within a month of having him cause he had a sickness that the pet store didn't take care of him when they could have. They sold us a sick bunny. My last one who died on me she died within 2 days time of showing symptoms that she was sick. Is there any known diesease's that can kill bunnies that fast? I have 2 dwarf bunnies at the moment. One is from the pet store and the other we got not from a pet store. The one whose from the pet store is sick. I'm worried he got the same thing my last bunny had. He's stopped touching his food and water and the vet is closed here for holidays. My bunny we didn't get from the pet store has never gotten sick. The both of them are in the same room but different cages. Thanks for any info.

  1. oh my..i just got a dwarf bunny i just got it yesterday and its pritty heathy but did you feed it he right food how hot is where you live there like coldness betteer than hotness

  2. Take the sick bunny to the vet ASAP. Keep him in a different room until you take him to the vet. There are so many things it can be.

And for future reference, pet shops buy from mills, or people who do NOT breed responsibly. Next time you want to buy a rabbit, go to your local shelter, there are always tons of awsome rabbits waiting for homes! The adopted rabbits are cheaper and some shelters even fix them for you. AND most shelters offer a health gaurantee.

ALSO you need to go back to the pet store and make sure to complain (politely but firmly) about the health of the two animals that you bought from them. stress that you expect quality animals, and that it is not appropriate to sell sick animals to people, it is unprofessional. There is a whole tirade you can go off on. You can also see if you can get them to take responsibility for their poor care of the animal (aka pay this vet bill).

Good luck, and I hope the little guy does well.

  3. You shouldn't get anymore bunnies.
