Healthy Ideas to bring to work for lunch?

I am trying to eat a little healthier these days and want to bring things for lunches at work that are healthy too. Recently I have been bringing strawberry salads and wraps.

I am looking for really good BUT simple recipes for other salads and wraps like these. I would perfer them to use things commonly found at the house. I would also like any other types of healthy foods to bring for lunch. Winter is almost here so ideas for a little "warmer" foods woud be great too! Thanks!

Remembr, simple foods though nothing too fancy where I would have to go try to find and buy all the ingredients .

  1. I like to bring in lettuce wraps.  You can put anything you like inside them.  Lunch meat, tuna, egg salad, chicken or a bunch of veggies.  Hummus and pita bread

    Veggie and low fat ranch

    Salsa and baked chips

    Cereal

Soup (Use the crockpot!  It does all the work for you!)

    Salads

Your options are endless.  Another good idea is to measure out the portions the night before.  So you dont over eat.

  2. Look on kraftfoods.com they have great simple recipes for lunch and dinner ideas.. :)

  3. My favorite summer lunch is celery sticks and roasted tomato hummus.  If I'm really hungry that day, I'll throw in a whole wheat wrap spread with more hummus.  Really filling and yummy.

As for "warmer" foods, pull out the crock pot, and spend a day cooking soups and chili.  Freeze it in lunch size portions, and just pull one out as you need it.  You can even cook the soup/chili while you sleep - what's better and easier than that, cooking food while you sleep!   :)

Packaged oatmeal (Kashi is my favorite) is also good for a warm lunch.

  4. Try searching the weightwatchers.com site.  They have great recipes.  Also, try foodnetwork.com I think it is the Healthy Appetite show (Her name is Kreiger).

  5. turkey breast and chase sandwitch

    yogort cover raisions

    nuts , peanuts cahues

    yogurt , cottage chese

wraps i would go with chicken and letice healthy and add like tomatos ions and things also you can try wraps with salmie turkey and raost beef and chase i like

  6. Tunafish salad on crackers, egg salad sandwiches, cherry tomatoes, grapes, whole strawberries, caramel rice cakes( they are low in calories AND sugar and taste really good), Kashi bars, Fiber One bars, graham crackers, pickles, baby carrots.

I just make my wraps with low-fat mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, meat and cheese( like turkey cause its low fat), and if you dont want to put tomato on it cause it gets too bulky, then you can put cherry tomatoes in a baggie.  Black olives in a baggie too.

You can make chicken ceasar salads, but just make your own chicken at home( grill it or bake it ahead of time).

Chicken sandwiches or wraps( flatten out raw chicken breast really thin then cook them).

Have you ever tried Lean Cuisine meals? They are really good. Low in calories and fat.  Just make sure your calories for the meal dont go over 400 (although I dont think any do).

Oh yeah, I forgot meals for the winter.  Make homemade chicken broth and then chicken noodle soup. Very nutritious and low in fat as long as you put the soup in fridge to get cold and then skim the fat off the top that gets hard.
