Healthy Snacks With Calories?

Hi guys. What sort of healthy snacks with calories can I add to my diet? I don't have a lot of money for food shopping and I tend to eat things like chicken and burgers a lot because I am trying to weight lift. I need more healthy foods, what sort of healthy snacks can I add that have calories?

The reason I mention the calories is because I can just eat salad, but it has like 5 calories, so do you have any suggestions?

How about yogurt?  It is portable, relatively inexpensive, and there are all types of options.  Greek yogurt is a little more expensive, but it is richer and creamier.  It is available in full fat, 2% fat and 0%, with and without fruit.  There are 100 calories in 6 oz. of 0% fat and 18 grams of protein.  The more fat content, the more calories the full fat runs 240 calories in 6 oz.

    Add some fruit or granola and you have a tasty, filling snack  


  2. peanut butter has a lot of calories and protein per 2 tablespoons, about 200 calories and 8g of protein, so add that to an apple, banana, of slice of whole grain bread.

    you should buy a protein shake, they have around 100 calories per scoop and 15g of protein, add it to milk which has more protein and thats a pretty good snack

Basically you need to look at the types of fats you consume to make sure that you are getting healthy fats from the foods you eat.  If you are looking in the vegetable world, avocados have extremely high fat content, but are very healthy and good fats.  So, you could add avocado to your favorite dishes... you could make BLT sandwiches or Chicken sandwiches with slices of avocado on them to up your good fat intake.  

    Healthy fats for the body are your monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats... getting these fats in your body makes you extremely healthy and are good for people working out.  They also provide key amino acids like Omega 3 Fatty Acids that help your tissues replenish through protein chains in your muscles.

    Here are some good healthy snacks that are EASY you can try.

    1.  Get a Boboli Whole Wheat pizza crust from the grocery store.  Use Olive oil (polyunsaturated fat) and garlic (antioxidant) for the sauce instead of tomato.  Top it with chicken or any other lean protein, some spinach or any of your favorite vegetables.  Then add some cheese and bake it off in the oven.  Thats a super quick snack that has fats and is healthy.

    2.  The "BLT".  Now bacon has some bad fats, but thats ok really... your working out enough to burn that, and fats are the first things to burn when you work out.  With this BLT though, you are going to use good bread like multigrain, flax and fiber, or any kind of bread that isnt white.  Also you are going to add sliced Avocado to the BLT along with the lettuce and tomato to give you the calorie bump you need.
