Healthy cuisine in Los Angeles. where to go?

My boyfriend and I are trying to look out for new places to go for meals. we usually like a nice place where we can actually sit and talk, rather than a crowded, loud place (usually popular places like BJ, Fridays, etc.)

anyhow, we had a great breakfast at The Good Earth on Ventura Blvd (studio city) the other day which was GREAT!

preferably healthier choices is better. someone reccomanded this place which was really good.

got any idea I can look up??

we're from the valley.

  1. California Chicken Cafe is great... there are a few around LA, in the Valley & W. LA!

Really excellent chicken, sides, wraps, salads, etc..

  2. If you like Vegan food...there's a place called Pure Luck close to LACC.  It's not in the best of areas and the restaurant is almost Bohemian like (truly nothing fancy), but the people are very friendly.  They offer anything from salads, soups, sandwiches (the grilled tofu is excellent), but what they are really known for is their bbq "pork" sandwich made of jack fruit....it seriously comes close to being meat.

And if you're into gelato, right across the street is a place called Scoops.  They have all kinds of flavors imaginable...I think there was a chocolate and beer blend...sounds strange, but it was delicious!!!

  4. Don't go to Burger King - they microwave their burgers now.  Flame Broiling is a lie.  The King is dead.

  5. Since you liked The Good Earth Restaurant, and you live in The Valley,  consider these locations, also in the valley:

HUGO'S RESTAURANT in Studio City/Sherman Oaks area.

Food is excellent; healthy & really great reviews and ratings.

Many healthy choices (plus really great vegetarian dishes too).  Nice ambiance too.

Another very good and healthy restaurant that offers vegetarian Mexican food is LEONORS MEXICAN FOOD, North Hollywood (near Studio City/Sherman Oaks area) it's a hole in the wall, but has a very good reputation for their very healthy food.  (Try the brown rice & chicken [vegetarian] empanadas.  Their salads & sandwiches are great too.

Another excellent restaurant (directly across the street from Leonor's Mex. Rest. is THE OYSTER HOUSE).  Although it's a bar, they offer a variety of food.  I've tried many dishes and they're all excellent!  They offer a variety of appetizers; entrees & really really good pasta!  This was a "real hidden gem" of a bar/restaurant (nothing fancy on the outside, but a great little hide away when inside).  Great reviews too!
