  1. Have you tried a raw diet?  80% fruits, 20% vegetables and nuts/seeds.  I've been looking this up, and it seems that if you eat exclusively raw foods, the more you eat, the more you'll lose.

  2. lots of leafy green salads, use very little cheese, very little dressing and learn to eat blandly.  not everything has to have such strong flavor.  Eat to Live.  don't Live to eat.

  3. well, let's say if you weigh 120 (most people weigh around this number), the most you would want to consume is 1300 calories a day.

If more than that, gradually you'll exceed 3500 calories in a week or a month, then you'll gain 1 pound. Vice versa with losing weight, lose 3500 calories, you lose a pound.

So I'd suggest you to eat like 400 calories for each meal (including drinks) - 3 meals each day - if you want to lose weight. But since you're a vegetarian, go for veggies that have more iron you know? My sisters a vegetarian also, but she's lacking iron and low blood kind, so thats not a good sign.

I heard spinach has alot of iron in them, so go for that! :)

  4. The suggested calorie intake per meal, if I'm not mistaken, is 400-500 calories or about 1200-1500/day.

A good formula to follow is:

Intake > Expenditure = Weight Gain

Intake < Expenditure = Weight Loss

Intake = Expenditure = Weight Stabilization

A safe way to lose weight is about 1-2 lbs per week. This almost guarantees no yo-yo syndrome because the weigth was lost through a well thought out and very managebale/doable program, not by some radical but eventually frustrating/craving like crazy crash program.

LAST: excercise, even moderate but regular exercise works wonders

  5. have a Big Mac and forget the vegan idea, just exercise more.

  6. Use a BMR calculator to figure out how many calories you burn in a day like this one: http://www.nutritiondata.com/tools/calor...

If you want to lose weight, take this number and subtract about 250 - 500 calories (depending on how fast you want to lose the weight. Never eat less than 1000 calories a day, however.

I'm a vegetarian too, and I try to stick to high protein, high fiber meals. This is a rough outline what I eat in a day:

Breakfast: Kashi GoLean Crunch with milk and juice

Lunch: A Kashi protein bar, a mixture of nuts and a piece of fruit

Dinner: Tofu with peppers stir-fried with soy sauce and olive oil, salad

Snacks: Trail mix, Bolthouse Farms protein drink, popcorn

This may not be enough food for you however, so try and find more sources of protein and fiber to help keep you filled.

  7. salads with croutons is always a good choice but a lot of vegetarians lack protein in their diets  just because you are trying to loose weight doesn't mean you need to  be vegetarian lean meats like chicken or fish can help you loose weight
