My dad has been eating eggs for breakfast every single day for years. At least i convided him not to add salts and eat wheat bread instead.. and other little things.. but the thng is, i tried introducing him into eating cereal (fiber One) with soy milk (he is lactose intolerant) but he was still getting reactions to the soy milk!!! so he went back into eggs! his cholecterol level is not so good :( besides he has diabetes, highblood pressure.. and he is 62 years old right now... so basically he cant have very sweet stuff (dont even mention to me splenda or sugar free stuff cuz im against aspartame).. and he cant have too salty stuff either..

***anyways do you guys have ANY ideas of a GOOD AND HEALTHY breakfast??????? i couldnt think of anything! and its pretty much gonna have to be vegan.

please help, im desperate

  1. Orange juice, mixed fruit, wheat pancakes.

  2. Every morning I eat fried eggs in bacon grease and the 2 or 3 slices of bacon or ham.

For get ab out the junk you have heard about this not being a good breakfast for us who are diabetic, hypertensive and have a cholesterol issue.

Most of the time SALT has absolutely nothing to do with hypertension, so get over that one and let your dad eat.

This breakfast has enough protein and fat in it for me to have half slice of oat nut bread with butter. Ok, so your dad is sensitive to milk products, get a bread without milk or lecithin in it. and dip his toast in something nasty like olive oil if you must. dad probably has his favorite bread spread that he likes.

DO NOT BE THE FOOD POLICE and tell him how to eat. And do understand that most cereals are really bad for diabetics other than they have milk solids in them. They are a grain product and that shoots up the glucose level for most of us.

I am not sure you can lower glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol on a Vegan Diet. Get Over IT!!!

Eggs are good food and have been removed from the "DO NOT EAT" listing as have shell fish, nuts, avocados and quite a few other foods.

All wheat products are glucose raisers, all soft sweet fruits are glucose raisers, any dried fruits are really terrific glucose raisers. Most muffins or other baked goods contain milk solids.

  3. As for his options as being a diabetic, and lactose intolerant, with a reaction to soy, his options are limited.☆

Please have him look into this product, I think he will be happy in a few months of being on it.  I've seen the dramatic effect on my own mother, she is no longer insulin dependent, no longer has hbp, and her joint health has improved, she is younger than your father, however it is a miracle!☆

  4. Oatmeal and bran muffins (with all natural jelly like Polaner). Both will lower blood sugar and cholesterol.

  5. water. Oh milk too.

  6. I am diabetic, too.  These are some of the ways I deal w/ breakfast:  1)  Half a whole grain bagel w/ tofu cream cheese (Scallion Tofutti ROCKS!), lox, lettuce, pickles, onions, sprouts, cucumber.  2) English muffins w/ peanut, cashew or almond butter; 3) Last night's healthy dinner plus veggies and salad; 4) If his cholesterol level is not good, you're right, he really does need to look at getting off the eggs every day.  Other sources of protein would include turkey or chicken sausages, scrambled tofu, beans (Refried beans are really good for breakfast!  Breakfast burritos can contain anything, and I think they're really delicious!) 5)  I like miso soup (or any soup for that matter) for breakfast.  Traditionally, the Japanese start every single morning w/ a bowl of miso soup.  It's good for what ails ya!  6)  I often eat a sandwich of some kind for both breakfast and lunch.  My favorite breakfast sandwich is 2 fried or scrambled eggs w/ cheddar, pesto, fresh tomato slices, w/ sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, garlic powder and oregano all on grilled sourdough bread...yum!  Tempeh reubens are really good, too>> tempeh, carmelized onions, grilled sauerkraut, mustard, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island or Russian Dressing all on grilled rye bread.  Double yum, and you can use soy cheese if can't digest the regular stuff well.  7)  Fresh fruit salad w/ yogurt and granola is a favorite in this household.  Usually even lactose intolerant folks can have cultured dairy, and were it me, unless soy gives your dad explosive diarrhea, I'd carry on w/ eating it.  How do you know he had a reaction, and what shape did this reaction take?  It's sounding to me like he could use a good course of digestive enzymes...

  7. Try almond milk (unsweetened) from trader joes with rice krispies and a some fruit ....its sooooo good

*note the milk doesnt contain aspartame

    Good Luck

  8. water! lol well just kidding you could make smoothies an i mean really  thick ones like so thick you eat them with a spoon your ingredients could include lots of fruit like all you can imagine and vegetables a mixed selection also ginger, seeds and raisans dried fruit(like the chewy variety papya, pinapple and tht) and try adding a scoopof natraul peaut butter to liven things p i no you might get bored but it is THE best thing honest try and get him to stick to it coz its the most natrual healthy vegan thing you can getand also vegetairn mix sausages they are delicious and all you have to do i add water and fry them you get them from Holland and Barreirt!

  9. rice milk? how about oatmeal of cream of wheat or cereal with water or whole grain bagel
