  1. It depends what route you're immigrating via. Its about the same for every country though, theres no reason why it would be harder from the UK.

I recommend checking out www.cic.gc.ca. It is a very easy site to navigate and you can find most your answers there.

  2. Yes, it is true.  Immigration to Canada can be a lengthy process.  Depending on your skills, the route you might want to pursue and the time it will take can vary.  The site you need to start with is the Canadian immigration site, which you will find at this link.  It has all the information.

  3. I agree that the process needs attention but it is no more strict from the UK than from the rest of the world.

  4. When I came to Canada thirty years ago we applied in January, were rejected because we didn't have jobs to come to, came over in July to find work, returned to the UK and were accepted and actually left England and landed in Canada on November 1st.

The whole process took less than a year, but at the moment it seems to be taking up to three years or more.

There is a site which has some info that you might be able to use - http://www.emigrate2.co.uk/default.htm

This page has info about Canadian jobs that are in demand - if you have skills that Canada needs then the time to process your application would be considerably less, for example if you were a Mineralogist you would be in demand in Alberta right now - http://www.emigrate2.co.uk/jobs_and_mone...
