UK's 'favourite' Olympians revealed

Press Assoc.

Britain's six "favourite" Olympic champions will feature on new National Lottery scratchcards aimed at raising money for the London 2012 Games.

Sebastian Coe, Steve Redgrave, Kelly Holmes, Jonathan Edwards, Sally Gunnell and Duncan Goodhew will be the faces on the new scratchcards launched by Camelot after they commissioned a poll to find the nation's favourite Olympians.

The launch ran into controversy, however, after Camelot admitted that 1992 100m champion Linford Christie was not on the "prompt list" shown to those people who were surveyed by polling company Ipso Mori.

Camelot insists the top six names received the most votes from those who were unprompted, but the prompt list was drawn up on the advice of the British Olympic Association, who imposed a lifetime ban on Christie after he failed a drugs test for nandrolone carried out after his retirement ..
