Heard of Directive 51?

Question

National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive. It grants emergency powers to the Presiden in the event of a disaster, and furthermore, needs no oversight from the U.S. Congress. See wikipedia article explaining it.

Quite incredible, but it hardly comes as any surprise, the Bush administration has put the US Constitution 'on hold' for the past 8 years!

Sounds just like an elected dictatorship ......... don't you think?

I've never heard of this directive. It's pretty scary to think the President would have this much power with no oversight. I wonder if Bush will remove this directive before he leaves office. After all, I'm sure that he sees no problem with having this complete power himself, but would not want to see a Democrat with this much power!
