Not .co.uk, but when my daughter was little (about a million years ago!) there used to be babysitting clubs where parents joined and earned 'points' for babysitting each others' children. When you had enough points, you could 'buy' a babysitter from the club. This meant no money changed hands, no one person got taken advantage of, and favours were returned fairly. It worked really well - don't know if this is the same principle but up-dated. Just remember to vet any childminders VERY thoroughly, especially if you access them through the net.
