Question:

Hearing aid questions ? ?

I have single sided deafness and a small bit of loss in the other side.

I've just been given a CROS / BICROS aid. The problem is that the microphone on the deaf side is broken (they are sending a replacement in the next week)

In the meantime, I'm using it as a normal aid in my 'good' ear which only has a little loss.

My first question is : will it hurt my hearing if this is turned up quite loud? I LOVE being able to hear things I haven't heard for years so I tturn it up more than maybe I should. Will this affect the hearing I already have?

2nd question : Are there any CROS aid user groups on the internet (preferably in the UK) wherer you can chat with others in similar situations?

Thank you so much!

  1. hi am hearing aid user also but don't know what CROS is i have worn hearing aids since i was 5 years old and my son also wears them so you shouldn't really turn them up too loud.mine are set up according to my hearing loss to bring it up to normal hearing levels. on the old style aids i had i used to turn them down as everything was to loud guess i have gotten used to it being quiet.wouldn't have thought it would damage the hearing that you already have though x
