Heart rate after my run?

22 year old male. 170 pounds 6'1.

I run 3-4 miles every other day and weight lift on my off days. I run 3 miles in 25 minutes on average at a training pace and I can run 3 miles in 19-20 minutes during a race.

After a 25 minute 3 mile run my heart rate will drop to 100 fairly fast but then it will stay there for like 20 minutes and then slowly, slowly climb back down to between 66-76

Is this normal?

  1. Yes totally normal, one way to tell is do this after a race and I'll bet it will take just a little longer to come down than this.  Also another way is to run further say 5-6 miles at your training pace 8:20 mile and it will also take longer to come down.  Been training with heart rate monitor for 10 yrs., it is interesting seeing how different exertion levels and distance will effect your recovery heart rate.

Do it usually take about 2 to 3 minutes to drop to 100? and what is your normal resting (in morning) heart rate, guessing around 58-60?

  2. Your height and weight is rather similar with mine. I am 1.8 weight 78 kg and run average 3- 4 km every other day. I am 56.

My heart rate after any race (25 min later) is 66-70. then it is 58-62.

My normal working rate is 52/min

I think your heart rate is a little fast.
