your dog will seem sluggish or tired, sometimes they look swollen in abdomen area. It is important to have the proper heart worm test done by a vet.  It needs to be sent out to a lab.  I had a dog for ten years, took him to the vet twice a year, had him checked for heartworm, all was always ok, he died at 10 years old from massive heart worms as my vet did not do the proper test. This is the only way to know for sure.  good luck, mags
