Im 12 weeks and 4 days pregnant with baby #2 and suffering from heartburn already.

Anyone else experienced heartburn this early, if so what did you take for it?

With my first pregnancy i didnt get it till later on and drunk loads of milk, not finding the milk is working so much this time round.

  1. I had heartburn BAD when i was pregnant and it started early. It kept getting worse and worse throughout the pregnancy so my doctor ended up prescribing me Zantac and i believe u are allowed to take the OTC ones. u are also allowed to chew tums/rolaids. no pepto bismol allowed though. also try drinkin lots of water...milk soothed it for me but milk is actually supposed to be an irritant to heartburn.

I seen that somebody said to eat toothpaste...it is NOT SAFE to eat toothpaste!!!!!!!!

  2. yes it is normal.

    Milk. Just drink cold milk.

Worked for my co-worker and she didn't have to munch on pills that could affect the baby.

  3. I love my Tums! they work the best for me.

  4. Tums is my best friend.  I carry them in my purse.  I had heartburn about 12 weeks to.  But tums and ask your doctor is that doesn't work, because they can prescribe stomach pills for the acid.

  5. I have suffered from really bad heartburn throughout the 3 of my pregnancies. Milk use to work for me but no longer does also. I find having a bottle of gaviscon with you all the time very handy. There are some other things like rennie's and remegels that work for people but they don't work for me. You can also use Malox which is quite good but you can't buy it over the counter. If you have nothing at hand then eat some toothpaste. I know it sounds weird but it really does work.

  6. wow...@ 12 weeks? Poor you!

well tums chewables have worked wonders for me!

  7. I had the same problem & seltzer worked for me :>)

  8. Tums

  9. I was perscibed zantac because I got realy bad heart burn thought it would never go away also if you dont like meds try eating baby carrots they work fast to

  10. I didn't get it that early, but my doctor said Zantac was safe during pregnancy. It worked wonders for me.

  11. I started getting it around 8 weeks. I take tums but they were making me sick so my dr said Maalox and Rolaids soft chews were okay too.

  12. This is my first pregnancy and I am due March 6th, and a couple days ago the heartburn started for me as well. I'm wondering if its just new symptoms as we are entering our second trimester. Good Luck!!

  13. I take the Tums Ultra cool mint. They do the job for me.

Antacids are excellent and safe to take often. When heartburn's keeping you awake, you can prop yourself up and have a little sip of Mylanta or chew on a Maalox tablet and you'll feel better. Heartburn medications like Pepcid AC are also okay.

  14. I had terrible heart burn in both my pregnancies.  There are things you can take, besides Tums.

The first time around I had a prescription of something.  The second time around my doctor told me I could go ahead and take Zantac 75 twice a day.  One in the morning and one during the night.  I'm more than sure it's safe, but you should consult your doctor before you take anything.

    Good luck!

  15. Hi.  I never had it during my 1st but it was HORRIBLE during my 2nd pregnancy.  It finally got so bad that my doctor had to prescribe me Protonix, it took a week or so to work but when it did, it worked wonders!!  I was taking a ton of Tums prior to that until I found out I was ODing on them.

  16. Yes, I had it early on this time too. I drank Maalox, that seemed to help. And I have taken Rolaids (the chewy ones) and that helped too.
