  3. well, entropy may change, but the energy is due to mechanical energy.

    If I remember correctly, the reasoning goes thus:  heat loss to the environment is an equalisation, entropy is a measure of a systems "closeness" to total energy equilibrium.  So any equalisation of energy is an increase in entropy.

    Been a long time since I done any physics, though.
