Heat pump outside is Not Frozen at all. Blower on basement Furnace is working fine when I turn on the Heat. When I turn it on a Cool 68 degrees, I see heat pump working outside and Fan Spinning.

Problem: I don't feel any cool air coming out of ducts. I let it run and run for hours and still no cool air coming out of ducts. No air blowing. I don't know what else to do. Please help.

  1. If there is no air at all coming from the ducts, then you may have a hole in the system, or a blockage.  First thing to check, of course, is the filter.  Next, you'll have to access the ductwork....if its in a basement, that should be easy...hehehe...but if its in a crawl space, it may be a bit more work.

If you have a crawl space, there should be an access panel, usually on the end, or backside of the home.  I'd kick the system on to blowing air, and open that access panel... if you feel a lot of air coming out of it... you know where your problem is, hehehe.

It could be a flexible duct has come loose, has a hole, or a metal duct has rusted out.

Flex duct can be reconnected, or repaired as necessary, and metal ductwork can be fixed with some metal flashing, screws, and aluminum tape.

I like to cut off lengths of plastic sheeting to unroll under a home, when I'm crawling around underneath.... I don't get quite so dirty that way, hehehe  (important, if you are in and out of the home quite a bit, on a service call).  And of course, carry a good flashlight, hehe.

  2. It sounds to me like your system needs a recharge or is it possible that the unit is freezing up?

    Was it gradual or fast?

Mine did something similar a few years ago, and it was determined that cat hair and just airborne nasties had accumulated over many years and caused our system to ice up.

    Ours happened gradually.

  3. You might need to have the unit recharge with freeon (sp).. Our AC unit is outside and sometimes if it is in the sun and gets hot, it will blow warm air thru our vents so we have to go out and spray our ac unit with water to cool it off..Eventually we will build a shade for it so it doesnt get beat by the sun..lol..And this is central AC I am talking about..not a window unit or one of those units you have to add water to..
