  1. Years ago (I am 36) they never did, we had no AC at all, my parents did not have any in our house growing up either in NJ.  But here this year in Indiana they closed the schools several times last month and it only was like 85*. Kids are done with school here though since mid May, but they go back August 12. When I was in college we had no AC in the dorms and the windows barely opened and it was well over 100* when we started classes.  And in high school I went to summer band and it was over 120* inside the auditorium, and then for a break we get to walk about 1/2 mile to a gas station in 95* heat just to grab a soda!  Things have changed in the past 20 years, most people did not have AC then!

  2. I'm not sure but here in NJ schools have been closing because they don't have air conditioning. They can expect kids or teachers to deal with no air when its close to 100 degrees out.

  3. hm maybe but in my school today, it was so hot. at the end of the day there were only 60 people left in the whole school because it was so hot that everyone called their parents to come pick them up. we usually have around 450 kids though.

and only 60 by the end of the day =X

so now we are having half days for the rest of year because of this.

  4. Dunno but they never close my school :[
