Heath Bell aims to earn respect of his teammates as he clarifies comments about Ozzie Guillen-MLB
Miami Marlins’ relief pitcher Heath Bell is extremely disturbed by the reports which have misconstrued his comments regarding Ozzie Guillen according to him. He has clarified that whatever he said was not about Guillen and his words were thoroughly misinterpreted.
As far as his time with the Marlins is concerned, he wants to play for the club next year and build up his reputation from scratch. He states he does not enjoy the respect from his team-mates at the moment.
Bell believes reporters made a mountain out of a molehill while the reality was totally different. He never intended anything which maligns Guillen and questions his ways of managing the team.
He is so disheartened after what media constructed out of his comments that he has abandoned talking anything which leads toward controversy, at-least for the time being.
He pledges that he is not going to speak anything which is even remotely related to his team-mates and the coaching staff.
What Bell is claiming now can easily be taken as a step back from an earlier statement by observers. Bell is aware of this as he states that the way the story about his statements was presented it will be extremely difficult to convince people of what he
actually meant.
Talking about the statement of respecting the leader, he elaborated that he was speaking in general terms while the name of Guillen was not in his mind.
“I called him last night. I told him what I was feeling. I told him sorry for the comments. The article was totally taken out of context. I was not saying anything wrong or bad. That article blew up in my face and it’s not even what I said. The only comment
I did say that was factual was ‘It’s hard to respect somebody that doesn’t tell you face to face,’” Bell said.
Bell is h**l-bent to remove the misconceptions that have spread now about him.
He loves to start next year with the Marlins and make up for the poor shows he put up in the current season. He will be trying to stay away from controversies and focus on throwing quality innings as a reliever.
