Just because the poor sod died doesn't mean he should get an Oscar for a fairly average performance. Gary Oldman was better.

  1. i totally agree

  2. COME ON! you gotta be shitting me his performance was the best! its was great. but not a good movie to see twice.

  3. You must be jokin. Forget the hype. Then watch the film.

    Ledger was brilliant!!!

  4. unfortunately when one that is young and brilliantly gorgeous people lose their minds.....if it werent for his passing, this movie in no way would not have remotely surpassed 500 million bucks

  5. I  think Heath's performance as the Joker was not quite as incredible as people are making him out to be, but he was still very, very good. It's extremely difficult to play a part like the Joker - basically an insane, evil person. He did a great job playing the part, and while I don't necessarily think he should win the Oscar, I do think he should at least be nominated.

  6. NO WAY, Heath was brill dead or not that was a really good performance

  7. ha!!!!!! thats funny!

how bout you go act and see how many people judge you as an average performer, then go die

  8. I'm with You there. My missus turned over to Steve Irwin one day, and I said "Why are we watching this? We never used to watch it when He was alive".

  9. I'm sorry but I disagree with you on that totally, I've never really been a fan of Ledger (never understood all the fuss about Brokeback) but I thought he was brilliant as the Joker, very dark and menacing.

As for Oldman, I don't think I've ever seen him do a bad performance, he is a great actor, but very different to Ledger.

  10. I thought he was slightly above average

the media and young women over hyped him because of his un-timely death

but I thought he was good

    nothing earth shattering though

  11. He was good. Just not as orgasmic as the fanboys would have you believe.

  12. Dead or alive, he was brilliant, his little twitches, little things that Jack Nicholson never even thought of doing.  It was way beyond average.  Anyone who looked at that performance and thought less than brilliant wasn't really watching.  Every little twitch, from the way he kept l*****g his scars, down to how he looked at people.  No, nothing average there.

  13. Heath Ledger?? average performance??  I think you must be a Joker !!

  14. Sorry but I have to disagree. I'm not saying he should get an Oscar for his role but personally I think he did a better roll as the Joker than either Caesar Romero or Jack Nicholas did.

  15. I watched the movie at the weekend and thought exactly the same. He was nothing special, its funny how the death of a person throws them into superstardom even when not deserved !! :)

  16. I expected him to have a bigger role in the movie. The way the media hyped him up I expected more. He did a good job as The Joker, but he needed more time on the screen.

  17. I agree it's just the usual hype surrounding an average Blockbuster movie, once it's on dvd for £4.99 in Asdas people will naturally follow another trend.

  18. His performance was brilliant, I almost never like to see Batman in the cinema but this was the Movie of the year.

  19. I thought he did a brilliant job at playing the Joker, and i would've thought exactly the same had he still been alive.

I think the unfortunate thing about that movie was that it had so much hype surrounding it and Heath Ledger/the Joker that people didn't really notice the rest of the film. It wasn't a fantastic film just because of the Joker, it was an all-round fantastic film. It would have been interesting to see what the reaction to the dark knight would've been had Ledger still been alive. I think he deserves a nomination, if nothing else.
