Heath Ledger rise or fall in The Dark Knight as the Joker?

I truly believe that Heath Ledger is the best Joker in the entire history of Jokers. His character was so deep and enticing that I thought they actually got a real pysco from the asylum. But he also brought comedy and made me laugh many times! What do you think???

Behind you 110% I went into the film with no idea who the h**l heath ledger was (or the recent history of him) but after coming out I found him to be the best I've seen, and the addition to the scars on his character are a stroke of genius by the director. After talking to a few friend about heath in the past I think that he is completely lost in the role and that you barely recognise him apart from the one scene where he is dressed as the guards.

As for the comedy aspect my mother went to see it, she despises these kinds of films, but found moments like the Hospital very entertaining (i am trying to give little away)

The true nature of the Joker is captured perfectly and does something to regain the reputation lost during the 80's in the Addam west series and by the depictions of him in past films (Jack Nicolson[sp?]  etc)

I thought he was absolutely incredible. Hands down his best performance, and the best joker performance in my opinion. It was so believable and haunting. I was blown away.

Jack Nicholson said after he played the Joker he went into a serious depression, which saddens me due to Ledger's fate.

HECK YES! best joker ever i loved watching him in the dark knight... everytime the camera wasnt on him i would be thinking man i hope the next scene is with the joker cause he's so entertaining to watch!!! funny & creepy!

I think the same thing! I'm such a fan of the Joker, played by Heath Ledger!

He was the RISE after everyone who watched the Dark Knight.

Saying I 150% agree with you is an understatement. He did the most amazing job as Joker. And I am not saying this because it was his last complete movie and now he is gone. I am saying that because he was awesome. If you ever watch an interview with just normal Heath Ledger with him just acting like himself and then you watch Dark Knight, you will be amazed with his versatility in acting.

Yeah, he was amazing.  Not as amazing as everyone says, though (I'm sure we'd hear more criticism of the role if he was still around).

I don't know what you laughed at; he really wasn't a very funny Joker.  Whenever I laughed, it was more out of shock and horror than anything else.

My dream Joker has yet to be portrayed.  I want one with all the brutality of Ledger's, but with the giddy personality of Cesar Romero's.  It would scare me more if all that brutality had a sense of humor behind it.

i was so excited to see how his performance was considering he was such a great actor, rest in peace.

and it did not disappoint! absolutely stunning job with the whole crazy guy thing. i especially like the "magic trick" with the pencil and when he dressed up as a nurse!  :]
