Question:

Heavy 1st period after pregnancy??

I just got my period for the first time after my third pregnancy (12 weeks ago). It is very heavy....is this normal to be so heavy? I haven't had to change the tampon once every hour like I know would be bad, but I do leak about every 3 hours or so. Is this normal for a first period after pregnancy? No clotting, at least yet??? No real cramping either, some, but not alot. Thanks for any help!!

  1. It's perfectly normal.  Massively inconvenient, but totally normal.

    Congrats on the birth!

  2. Yea, perfectly normal. And wow your not bleeding as much as I did! I had a c-section and thought I would never stop bleeding! My first period kinda blended in with "birth bleeding". I was using pads, because you're not supposed to use tampons the first few months. But my pads needed to be changed every 1/2 hour or so. It was bad.

But just keep an eye and make sure theres no clots. It'll last for a little while. But it will get better... promise!

  3. Its normal. Your body is adjusting. it went through alot to have a baby. Hormones are trying to go back to normal.

The doctor will tell you to keep an eye on any clotting but since your not clotting thats good.
