Hi all. I've always worked with a computer but a few weeks ago l started a new job and my eyelids are so heavy l've fallen asleep at my desk twice. It's actually getting worse so visited the opticians at the weekend whom gave me lenses to stop glare and strain yet today it was just as bad. My eyesight is fine, and l'm getting enough sleep. The only difference in this job is l have 2 screens and l wondered if it could be because l'm constantly switching from one to another and moving my neck? I've used 2 before with no problem. It's very worrying being in a new job and l can't even type or see the screens when the heavy eyelids get really bad which was what it was like today. I must have been 'knocked out' for a matter of minutes earlier, its really odd. I'm fine at home on my laptop and other screens...has anyone else had this problem? l'm dreading work now !

  1. Sounds strange that you aren't bothered at home. That almost eliminates eye problems being the cause.

That leads to maybe there is an environmental problem at work ?

Maybe bad air circulation or Radon gas seeping in from the ground is what is making you so drowsy.

Do others at work, if there are any, have similar problems ?

  2. Your sleepiness is causing the heavy eyelids, not the other way around.

Look to air quality at work, are others having the same problem?   Ask your boss to get the air checked out, may be too much carbon dioxide and not enough oxygen.
