Heavy rain showers cancel New York Yankees vs Detroit Tigers Game 4 of ALCS – MLB Update
Heavy rain showers cancelled Game 4 of the American League Championship Series on Wednesday evening after a 90 minutes delay, reports a leading sports website. Good news for the fans is that the game has been rescheduled for Thursday.
Detroit Tigers’ game against the New York Yankees is scheduled for 4 pm at Comerica Park, at a time when rain is likely to end according to the weather forecast. Strong breezes with winds blowing near 25 mph are still expected.
The "bulk of the rain should be gone," said Steve Considine, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in White Lake Township.
"Right now the forecast for the game is looking like it's a good chance it's going to be dry with high temps in the 50s," he further added.
Jim Leyland and company will be looking to continue their impressive winning streak in Game 4 to finish off the Yankees. However, if they fail to beat the Yankees, they will be playing Game 5 on Friday.
"Friday is going to be off and on showers throughout the day," Considine said in a post game interview.
As revealed by NWS, as much as quarter of an inch of rain is possible in spots on Friday with a 60 percent chance of showers. The weather forecast in not ideal for a championship game and it will be interesting to see if the Tigers can keep their focus on
the task at hand to reach the World Series finals.
Tigers’ Manager Leyland is very pleased with what he has seen from the Tigers during the playoffs. With five wins in seven playoff games, they are on a roll at the moment.
They are leading the ALCS against the Yankees 3-0. Credit should be given to the pitching rotation that gave up just four runs in first three games against the Yankees.
Max Scherzer, Tigers’ starter for Game 4, will be looking to continue the good work to help Tigers complete a memorable series sweep. Yankees, on the other hand, will be looking to snap their losing streak no matter how bad the weather gets.
