Hector Barbera apologises to Dani Pedrosa for causing crash at the Italian Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Hector Barbera of Pramac Racing Team apologised to Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda for causing the incident in the first lap of the Italian Grand Prix at the Misano circuit.
The incident dropped Pedrosa from a possibility of securing 25 points and reducing the gap from the championship leader Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory Racing.
The Pramac Racing Team rider apologised for his impatience in getting back on the track. In trying so he was unable to apply brakes at the right time resulting in his contact with the Honda rider. The consequences of applying late brakes had deprived him
of control with the front wheel of his bike.
Barbera said, “Unfortunately, when I followed Dani’s wheel I lost my braking point and hit the brakes far too late. I tried to slow the bike down, but I lost grip on the front.”
The incident leaves the Spanish rider disappointed because his mistake made Pedrosa suffer. He further apologised his team because of his carelessness over the circuit. He said that his team had worked hard over the weekend however Barbera is looking forward
to the Spanish Grand Prix positively. The Spanish GP is scheduled on September 30, 2012.
“I’m very disappointed, even more so because I took out Dani in the process and that was the last thing that I wanted to happen. It was my fault that he crashed out and I apologise profusely to him for that. I also apologise to my team that worked so hard
this week,” he said.
Dani Pedrosa started from the last grid due to issues with the front tyre of his bike. The front tyre got locked and did not move. When they got the one minute warning, prior to the start of the race, the Honda team could not touch the bike in accordance
with the rules of MotoGP therefore the issue was left unattended thus they set Pedrosa at the last grid.
After the race started, they removed the tyre warmers and got his bike in the working condition. He managed an impressive start from that position and made it to the 8th position from 21st position where he faced a crash with Barbera at turn 6.
The Honda rider has told that there was a lot of confusion in their pits related to the start of the race and the number of the laps in the race which resulted in causing such a mishap.
Let’s see how the Honda rider performs in the upcoming Spanish GP.
