Hector Lombard: I want to be UFC middleweight champion – UFC News
Former middleweight champion Hector Lombard, who recently signed his fresh UFC deal, is eager to take on the UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. In his recent interview, Lombard said he wants to fight the champion and it would be a dream if he would
get the chance.
Hector Lombard, who currently stands with 31 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie in MMA and 0 wins and 0 losses in UFC, said, “I want to be UFC middleweight champion, and I want to fight Anderson Silva to do it. I have such respect for him as a fighter. It would be
an honor and a dream come true to test my skills against his. I've wanted to fight in the UFC all my career. I wouldn't be in the UFC if I didn't think I could win the UFC world title.”
Lombard announced his deal with the UFC this Tuesday along with UFC officials confirming it. It should be noted here that the UFC had approached Lombard back in 2007 for the first. However, regional visa issues impeded Lombard’s entry to the organisation.
Hector hails from Cuba who trains with American Top Team. He is the former Olympic judoka with a brilliant 25 fight win streak. Lombard has fought for Bellator previously, winning a seasonal tournament and four non-title bouts. He won the belt at Bellator
and defended it once. He has participated in other regional tournaments as well within Australia, and this would be his first ever international venture with the UFC.
As of now, the UFC has not confirmed Lombard’s debut match and his opponent yet. However, the organization has promised that soon Lombard’s debut match will be set and the Cuban will be ready to showcase his skills on UFC’s platform.
With Hector on its roster, the UFC has surely achieved another remarkable feat. He is been a popular fighter within his region and he definitely is skilled enough to be a part of the world’s largest mixed martial arts organisation. Probably, as Hector has
put it, this is his chance to make it big and to make his dreams come true.
