Hee Kyung Seo happy with performance at Waterloo
South Korean Hee Kyung Seo might have lost the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012 in playoff against American Brittany Lang, but she was happy enough to put up a tough fight and posted a decent score on the
leaderboard.
Seo was brimming with confidence when she kicked off the last round of the inaugural Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012. She posted a 67 in the fourth round and battled three other contenders, Brittany Lang,
Chella Choi and Inbee Park.
The other three contenders and Seo registered an overall 268 each in the final round and moved into playoff. The match saw a tough battle, as American Lang displayed a stunning performance.
The American star reeled off three straight birdies on the 18th hole in playoff and grabbed the coveted title.
Seo performed amazingly well right from the opening round, as she scored a stunning 66 to tie for the third position on the leaderboard.
The tournament, held at Waterloo, Canada, featured a strong field that included top LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars like Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson from the United States, Suzann Pettersen
and American Stacy Lewis.
Analysts said that South Korean players put themselves in the spotlight by performing better than most of the top-flight LPGA contenders. They said that despite the strong field, the final results were quite
unexpected.
Seo did feel under pressure on some holes in the final round, but she lost momentum in playoff, as she scored 2 straight birdies and one par on the 18th.
Happy with performance against rivals, the South Korean prodigy said that she did her best at Waterloo and looks forward to doing the same in the upcoming events.
She went on to say that she could not have done any better, as her nearest rival, Brittany Lang, stunned everyone on the course after displaying a stellar performance.
"It was great round, yeah, but I played really good and, you know, I'm still a little nervous, but yeah, it was fun. I think I played really good, but Brittany was really great so I would like to say congrats
to her,” Seo said.
“It was good, lots of Koreans here, too, and lots of Canadian people come out here and cheer us. It was really good”.
