Hee Kyung Seo happy with second-round performance at Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012
South Korean Hee Kyung Seo displayed a stunning performance in the second round of Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012, as she posted a 66 to tie for the second position along with two other contenders.
Seo, who was brimming with confidence when she kicked off the $1.3 million tournament being staged at Highland Meadows Golf Club, Ohio, capitalised on support from the American crowd.
The South Korean star got off to a superb start as she posted a 68 in the opening round. Japanese Mika Miyazato and South Korean Inbee Park shot a 68 and 65 respectively in the second round to tie for the second position along with Seo.
Analysts said that the second round saw players score well despite the strong wind made it a little hard for players to make perfect strokes on some holes.
They said that Seo is likely to improve her position in the next two rounds, as she has shown on the first two days that she is keen to prove her mettle this time.
She kicked off the round with plenty of enthusiasm as she parred the first hole. However, on the difficult second hole, she could not judge the ball properly and ended up carding a bogey. Offsetting the impact of bogey, the rising golfer quickly regained her composure and sank her first birdie on third hole.
Seo impressed the spectators once again after she drained two back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh hole.
On the back nine, the LPGA star kept the momentum going as she avoided making any bogey and looked confident to further improve her position on the leaderboard.
She carded another two straight birdies on the 12th and 13th hole, consolidating her position.
Speaking to the media about a good start in a tournament featuring big names like current world number one Yani Tseng, Paula Creamer, Stacy Lewis and Suzann Pettersen, Seo said that she did not let her nerve derail her, but felt a little under pressure at the start.
“At the beginning of the round, it was little rough to me.  My driver was right and left, so I had to find the feeling of the shot,” she said. “But the good thing was the ball was hitting at the open area so I didn't have to make a tricky shot or from the rough.  I had very comfortable shot”.
