Hee Young Park holds the 2nd place at the Evian Masters
The South Korean player Hee Young Park has amazed everyone by her excellent performance at the ongoing Evian Masters.
After the first round, she stood second with a score of 7-under par-65. This amazing performance has caused many experts to predict that she will retain her place throughout the event and can even move to the first position.
Park has surprised everyone, as many experts expected her to wind up near the middle of the final rankings. Her performance at the U.S. Women's Open had worried many fans. Her failure to make the cut at the prestigious event meant that her career has started
to go downhill.
However, Park has been performing great so far at the Evian Masters and this has made many experts revise their views about Park’s performance.
During the first round, Park was at her best. She scored five birdies after the fourth hole. These birdies were critical in getting her to the second position.
Even Park was amazed at her string of birdies. She had practiced hard for the tournament and all that hard work paid off when she stepped out for the first round.
This tournament is memorable for Park for another reason as well. This is the first time she has used a belly putter. This somewhat controversial club was used by the well known Ernie Els during the British Open. With his win, the belly putter has once again
come into fashion and Park decided to try the club out.
The result was great according to Park. She said, “I have been playing 15 years, and I have never used the belly putter before. Then, like 10 days ago, I just changed (to) the belly putter”.
Park has not won any tournament so far in 2012. However, she does have three top-ten finishes that many fans believe can be joined by the trophy of the Evian Masters.
The tournament is still young. With players like Ai Miyazato, Lee-Anne Pace and Ilhee Lee coming up the ranks, Hee Young Park will have to maintain her form to retain her standing till the very end.
