Heel pain at 27 weeks?

I've noticed the back part of my heel has been killing me today. I didn't hit it on anything or hurt it walking, but it hurts very badly to walk now. I talked to my obgyn today and she said it wasn't swelling, but it is so painful! Has anyone else had this or know what it is? I have only gained about 11 or 12 lbs. so far in my pregnancy, so I don't really think it's my weight. Any suggestions? I have to limp when I walk :(

  1. I am 20 weeks and I have gained about 10lbs and that is when I started having sore feet again. I have heel spurs and plantar fascitis.  In other words..ouchie feet. I had recently lost a good amount of weight in order to have a better pregnancy and before that my feet were killing me. Now I limp first thing in the morning until I stretch the tendons out. I think it was said too, footwear! Flip flops and sandals are deadly for pregnant feet. I will soon be hauling out the running shoes and icing my heels to help with the pain.

So try better shoes, ice and stretching your feet out before you get out of bed(toes up to shins). You will feel that stretch in the backs of your legs too. I hope that helps you, if not talk to a podiatrist or a chiropodist.

    Good Luck! =)

  2. Plantar fasciitis(heel pain)

Occupation: Standing workers, walking people are generally suffered  from it.

    AGE GROUP:40-60 YRS USUALLY SUFFERED

AS A RESULT OF OSSIFICATION OF PLANTAR FASCIA GIVE RISE TO CALCANEAN SPUR(Demonstrated by radiograph).THERE IS PAIN,TENDERNESS AND SWELLING IN THAT AREA.

It can be managed by having proper homoeopathic treatment

  3. Maybe your have a bone splinter in your heal area. I have had it before. Not during pregnancy though. Have your regular doctor check it out.

  4. I had it too. I'm 33 weeks now and stay off my feet as much as I can, so they don't really hurt anymore.

The more support you have in your shoes the better. I wore cross trainers and got good arch support insoles too. That extended the time I could stand by a couple hours, but I had a job that required me to stand for 12 hours a day, without the arch supports I could make it about 3-4 hours, with them I usually made it 6 hours. I actually wasn't working anymore by the time I was 27 weeks though, I don't think I would have lasted nearly as long on my feet at 27 weeks!

Unfortunately it's just one of the joys of pregnancy, keep your feet up when you can and get good shoes, that's all you can really do! :)

Some think it's plantar fiscitis, but that will hurt the bottoms of your heels more than the back. Mine hurt in the back too, and it was not plantar fiscitis.

  5. Yes, sadly I have the same thing. It will go away in the fall!

    It's flip flops/ sandals.

Try putting on sneakers (the best ones you own) tomorrow and the next day, your heels will be feeling much better every day.

I think it has something to do with weight gain, poor shoes and waddling when pregnant! :)
