Heidi Poppe claims Women’s 200 yard breaststroke gold – Speedo Winter Junior Nationals
Heidi Poppe of Crow Canyon County claimed gold medal of the Women’s 200 yard breaststroke on last day of the 2012 Speedo Winter Junior National Championships at University of Tennessee, Knoxville on Saturday, December 8.
Poppe, who made her way into the final as seventh fastest swimmer, showed no mercy to her opponents in the playoff distant breaststroke discipline as she paced her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal.
With her astonishing efforts, Poppe remained prominently ahead of her opponents and transpired on the finishing wall for gold medal with a wonderful timing of 2 minutes and 13.14 seconds.
Poppe remained 1.31 seconds apart and secured silver medal of the race by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 14.45 seconds for silver medal.
The second position holder was followed by Taylor Young of Neptune Swimming, who was 0.50 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and concluded her race in a time of 2 minutes and 14.95 seconds for bronze medal.
The third position holder was followed by Ashley Tse of Brea Aquatics-CA, who was 0.16 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and settled on the finishing end as fourth fastest swimmer by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 15.11 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Isabella Goldsmith of Sandpipers of Neptune, who stayed 0.15 seconds slower and hit the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 15.26 seconds.
Goldsmith was followed by Peyton Greenberg of Lakeside Swim Team, who was 0.07 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 15.33 seconds.
Greenberg was trailed by Sherri McIntee of Rancho San Diegu, who was 0.36 seconds slower and concluded her race in a time of 2 minutes and 15.69 seconds for seventh place.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Destiny Nelson of Frisco Aquatics, who remained significantly slower from her foregoing swimmer as she settled on the wall as eighth position holder by producing a time of 2 minutes and 19.66 seconds.
Furthermore, Poppe was extremely happy with her top finish in the race and articulated her desire of continuing the same in forthcoming swimming events.
