Height increase during college?

Hi I'd like to start of by listing my stats. I am currently 5' 9 3/4". My father is 5' 9" and my mother is 5'6". I am 17 turning 18 in one month, very minimal facial hair and no chest hair. I have pubic and underarm hair and my pubic hair has begun extending to my belly button. Everyone in my family is hairy (males that is) with full beards and chest hair. In this summer I've grown about half an inch, and I was wondering if it was all too uncommon to grow during my college years as I feel very under-developed? I regularly am mistaken for a middle schooler and am wondering if I will ever grow out of this.

My grandfather on my father's side was a very strong 5' 11" and I was wondering if there is any chance at all that I could reach his height? My diet is really not too bad although it could use improvement and I have been recently starting to play basketball, swim and do yoga regularly, ironically I actually enjoy these things and not because of their height increasing mythos.

I know that I will probably get a lot of the accept your height answers and I am very accepting of it but as with everyone else improvement is not unwelcome. I just want to know if it is possible. Also genealogically speaking my father has told me that he was somewhat of a late bloomer at least in the realm of facial and body hair.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

  1. I grew until I was 20 or 21. You might still add some inches.

Don't worry about being hairless. Believe me when you hit 30 or 40 you are going to wish you had less in weird places. You are normal and most girls don't like overly hairy guys.

  2. for some yes

    for others no

  3. Although the wide majority of teens start nearing the end of puberty around the age of 18, some people continue to grow, or haven't grown at all by 18. Plus, puberty is never the same for everyone, it starts at different times for everyone and it doesn't have a specific order in which your body changes (ex. 1 guy might grow pubic hair first while a different guy will grow underarm hair first). In your case, some guys just aren't hairy, and will always be that way. If you are really concerned, see your doctor.
