Okay

Dad=5'11

Mom=5'9

I'm 16(I have a twin)

I took after my dad and his mom and sister with big feet and huge hands.(I wear a size 12 in shoes)

My brothers are 6'0

So anyways, I was wondering if my twin and I were going to be tall because right no we are 5'6 and 5'5.

I'm only worried because I don't look right with being short and having big feet.

So is height genetic? Are me and my sis going to take after are siblings and parents? Since we are 16 did we stop growing?

Thanks in advance!

I read somewhere you take after your father.

My father's family such as my aunts and uncles are pretty tall the women are about 5'10.

In my mom's side my grandmother is pretty short.(5'5)

but my mom took her height probably after her dad (5'10)

  1. height is genetics yeah but also on activity and diet, if your grandmother has a hunchback which she might because shes old, she might have been 5'9 before like your mother and your brothers are tall so genetics to be tall are in your family, but girls dont grow taller after puberty and men do, so you might grow a bit more but probally not as tall as your brothers, but excersising increases growth hormones, but not as much when you sleep. So keep in mind excersising like running or swimming can give you the extra boost

  2. Well, girls don't stop growing until they are 18 so you don't have anything to worry about.

    Are you the younger or older of the twin? Because I have found that usually the younger one tends to be taller than the older one. I dunno. But I'm pretty sure you'll be around your mom's height, give or take couple inches

  3. I am 22, I thought I was done growing around 17, 18 but I went from 5 foot 9 to 5 11 around 19, 20 So I would not worry about it. I wear a 11 so, i feel your pain, its hard to find cute shoes that don't make you feel and look like a clown in bigger sizes.(or shoes at all for that matter)

  4. Height is based on your genetics. If your parents are tall then you will be tall, if your parents are short then you will be short. Yes your twin and you will be tall because twins have the same chromosomes. Most people stop growing by high school or they might hit their growth spurt.

    Your height is based on your dad and your weight is based on your mom.

    Hope i helped!

  5. Well, based on my expertise, you won't be a penguin forever... I say you're going to grow to be 6'4". I, a total stranger with no knowledge of genetics decree it to be so. Silly silly. No one can answer how tall you're going to be.

  6. Height is genetic, but it also has to do with nutrition, illness, etc.

    Height predictors have you at an adult height of 5' 7" or 5' 7.5"

    Typically, girls' heights level off by 17, but not always. In part it depends on your mom's growth pattern, when did she reach her adult height? Some girls are their adult height at 12, some don't reach their adult height until 19.

    Here is a height chart, usually once you're around 16 you're likely to stay at the same percentile to adulthood. But not always!

    But, seeing as you are a twin, were you premature? If you were a preemie, especially if you were very early, you may get your final growth after graduating from high school.

    Don't worry about your foot size! Wear pretty shoes and when you're older, high heels will make your feet look more petite.
