Height question? Please help?

Hi, i am a 14 year old boy who is only 5 foot 1. My doctor already predicted me to grow late (16) because she says my family has a history of late bloomers. My parents keep telling me i will probably end up taller than most of the people who i think are tall now because i am getting "extra inches." My doctor predicts me to be about 5 11. Now can anyone tell me if there is any truth in the fact i will become taller than most of the people i view as tall now? It just doesnt seem likely.

Check your last few growth spurts. If it was at 1 inch a year, then it's more than 3 inches during the past year, you're probably approaching the last few growth spurts. The primary human (O)estrogen is Estradiol, and it's present in both sexes. In girls, the level is naturally higher(and jumps higher during puberty), causing them to shoot up really quickly, but also closing off the "bone growth" parts(osteoderms), which means they stop growing rapidly as well. In guys, the level is lower, and rises more gradually, leading to slower, but longer-lasting growth periods. Anyways, the 3 inches thing is only a rough gauge(or my timescales are off. Maybe it's 3 inches per quarter). I went up 4 inches per year during my last 4 years of growth(age 12-15). And I'm now at the same height as the tallest girl in school was during those years. So yeah, you probably won't beat the tallest guy around, but you will likely break past the middle group.

Just don't worry I'm the same as you and  people call me names shorty shrimp everything , you will grow and try a glass of milk a day or something and plenty of sleep. Well that's what I do , good luck anyways

My brother was 5'4" when he started his senior year.  HE grew 1 ft in that year.  He has horrible stretch marks.

it is possible. my friend is kinda short now but her parents are really tall so shes going to grow later. her doctor said that, too. so, you probably will grow later, too (:

alot of guys grow late.

my brother is growing after being 5'4 he is now growing more and more everyday. 5'4 to 5'10 it has only been a year!!

Unlike girls, who stop growing at around 13, 14 boys can still grow until they are like 16, 17.

This is because boys start puberty later then girls.

So to answer your question, YES it is very likely that you will get taller.

Children are usually taller than their parents. I'm sure you will hit a growth spurt soon, boys just do it later than girls. Don't worry about it too much, you can't speed up time. :)
