Heikki Kovalainen feels excited about updates for 2012 British Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Caterham driver Heikki Kovalainen has said that he is eagerly looking forward to see how their planned updates work in 2012 British Grand Prix which is to be held at Silverstone Circuit on July 8.
Kovalainen said that they have been trying their best to make the considerable developments and the necessary preparations so as to improve the pace of their car for the forthcoming race to achieve good results. Moreover, he said that their main objective is to enhance the qualifying pace in order to take a strong start in the approaching race.
“Honestly, I can't wait to get back in the car and see what we can do at this year's British GP,” he said. “At the last race in Valencia we clearly made improvements, enough to help me put car into Q2 on merit and we have more upgrades coming for Silverstone. For this race it's important that we carry our qualifying speed and good reliability through into Sunday as issues like the KERS problem I had in Valencia impact all hard work team is doing at factory and in the wind tunnel to get us where we want to be.”
The Finnish driver has not scored even a single point in the season until now. Nonetheless, he is not feeling disappointed and is aiming to come up stronger in the races ahead.
Meanwhile, his teammate, Vitaly Petrov also said that he is hoping to see improvements in the car with the upgrades.
Even though, the Hingham based team had made some crucial progress in the European GP held at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain, however, they struggled with the issue of KERS during the race.
Nevertheless, Petrov said that they have been working very hard to resolve the problems and are optimistic about the upcoming race.
It will be important to mention that it is very difficult to make any projections about the season ahead as there has been only one driver, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, who has claimed victory in two grands prix while all the other races have been won by different drivers. Nevertheless, it will be quite interesting to see how the season makes progress for all the contenders.
