Heikki Kovalainen insists F1 need to make 2012 United States GP exciting for fans – Formula 1 news
Caterham driver Heikki Kovalainen has said that Formula 1 needs to make the 2012 Untied States Grand Prix really exciting for the American fans in order to make it successful in the future.
Kovalainen admired the design of the Circuit of The Americas which is a completely new track in the calendar. Moreover, he said that he has driven at the new circuit in the simulator and expressed that it was a very nice experience for him.
Furthermore, he insisted that they must make the forthcoming race exhilarating for the spectators so as to promote the sport in the USA.
“I think the circuit looks quite nice, I've driven it in the simulator and it looks quite nice,” Kovalainen said. “It's good to go back - the American people are nice people it's just interesting to see how Formula One is going to survive there. We need
to try and get those people excited about Formula One; in the past they have not been so excited but if we've got a better show now we can do better.”
At present, Caterham are standing at 11th position in the constructors’ championship. Besides, they are ahead of HRT and are behind their main rival, Marussia.
Although, they have not been able to score even a single point in this year’s championship fight. Nevertheless, the Finnish driver is not feeling disappointed and is positively looking forward to deliver his best in the last two grands prix of the ongoing
season.
In addition, he has said that they are trying their best to come up stronger with some good step-ups in their car to attain promising results in the approaching races.
Moreover, he said that even though other teams are targeting to make the essential developments for the next season, but he is still keeping his focus on the final two rounds of the ongoing season and is hoping to perform well for his team.
“It could be difficult to handle for some people but I've never let it get to me,” he added.
Let’s see how he shows up in this weekend’s race.
