Heikki Kovalainen uncertain about his race seat in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Caterham driver Heikki Kovalainen has said that he is uncertain about his race seat in his team in the 2013 Formula 1 season.
Kovalainen has not been able to pocket even a single point in the season so far, however, he has performed quite convincingly in the last one and a half year. Moreover, he has been linked with many teams which include Sauber for the next season.
Furthermore, he has asserted that he will surely consider an opportunity to move to any other team as he is unaware of his team’s plan for 2013.
In addition, he said that he is trying to improve his performance in the forthcoming races so as to score some points for his team to achieve a competitive position in the midfield battle.
“It's rumours and that's all I can say,” Kovalainen said. “[Sauber] seems to be very strong this year, but that's all I can say. My focus is on maximising my performance here at Caterham and giving my best to the team. That puts me in the best possible position
in the market if I want to move teams. I don't even know what Caterham's plans are - maybe they don't want me anymore.”
Besides, it will be important to mention there are slight chances that the McLaren driver, Lewis Hamilton may leave in the next year and the Finnish driver has shown a great hope to join the Woking based team after this season.
“I know exactly what happened at that time, and what would happen if I got the chance in the future. I would have no problem [rejoining McLaren],” he added.
Additionally, he admired the performance of McLaren and called it a great team. He also said that he has a very good relationship with all the members of the British team and especially with the team boss, Martin Whitmarsh.
Over and above, he said that many changes in the sport over the last few years and it is very difficult to fit everything together.
