Heiniken Cup?

I live in New Zealand (GO ALL BLACKS!!!) and ive seen a few games of the cup on espn and found the level of skills of the players to be absolutely appaling, i reckon that one of the teams in the 2nd division of the provincial comp here (amateur players) could win a game against one of the heiniken cup teams. Does anyone else find it the same way i do?

  1. not a hope mate

it must of been a poor game you were watching with an italian or welsh province. the h-cup is just short of international standard rugby.

munster for example have 10 irish internatianls doug howlett , topoki, leomi mafi playing for them. toulouse have 25 internatinal players on the team. while leicester have 4 english internationals in the pack 2 argentinian props and macalister in the centre

no npc team could come close to h- cup rugby. granted there are about 3 or 4 poor side in the whole competition but generally its just short of international standard of rugby just look at the amount of seasoned internationals in any of the irish or french sides and the likes of leicester and wasps and the ospreys

  2. The Munster boys would stuff the best of you new zealenders

  3. depends which team they played against! (but they couldn't beat Munster!!!)

  4. Not me....I have an interesting life....I don't have time for that c**p

  5. I agree, the only thing that makes it bearable to watch, is that it is  spot the Kiwis  in the games, that is why I enjoy watching Ospreys and Cardiff Blues as they have a ton of Kiwi boys in the comp!

Also the weather and ground conditions are more suited for forward play and kicking style of game, instead of the running and passing conditions we play to.

I would like to see a  team of Super 14 players play in the Heinken Cup, hopefully it will be in the near future.

  6. Have you heard of Munster!!!We're a great team but we just bought Doug Howlett!I reckon we'll win it again this year!!!!

  7. I tend to agree.

I live in the US, follow rugby in both hemispheres, and support the NSW Waratahs.

Peter Hewat wasn't selected for the Wallabies RWC squad, and played for the Central Coast Rays in the ARC last year.  Because the Wallabies rejected him, Hewat requested a release from the Waratahs to play for the London Irish, and immediately helped turn the club into one of Europe's best.

I would rate the Heineken Cup talent comparable to your 2nd Division or the now-defunct Australian Rugby Championship.

Someday, I swear I'm going to move from the US to New Zealand.  You're the only nation that gives Rugby Union the appreciation it deserves.

  8. I love the heineken cup. Always have..it is a terrific competition and has a brilliant history..some of the matches over the last 10 years have been classics.

I never watch super14. Whats the point? I am not suddenly going to fly out there and support the crusaders every weekend. We are stuck with what we are given. some of it is utter shite some of it is brilliant.

  9. kiwi this kiwi fr1gging that.when did the all bottlers last win the wrc.at the moment the boks are the team with the attitude and the team bonding to do the job.but do agree with the standard, some of the heiniken games are p1sh and basic skills leave a lot to be desired.
