Heinrich Haussler is happy to ride with Team IAM Cycling as a captain
Heinrich Haussler is all set to ride along his new side, Team IAM Cycling after spending the 2011 season with his former side, Team Garmin-Cervelo.
The cyclist marked his professional debut with Team Gerolsteiner in 2005 and stayed with the team by the end of 2008 season, before he signed up with Cervelo Test Team for 2009-10 seasons.
He accepted an offer from Team Garmin-Cervelo in 2011 and helped the team with several top performances in the past two seasons.
Haussler finished bagged stages at the Tour of Beijing and the Tour of Qatar 2011 along with a third and a fourth place finish at the GP Ouest-France and the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad 2012.
"I don’t think it’s necessarily a big step; I made the same step four years ago with Cervélo Test Team," Haussler told Cyclingnews.
"Maybe the team doesn’t have big names like Carlos Sastre and Thor Hushovd but it’s still a great team”.
“There’s a good bunch of guys who have been brought together. The team has a lot of potential. We might have to depend on invites for some of the big races but if we perform well and start winning, we'll get some good starts".
His main role in Team Garmin was to support the team leader at the classics and is excited about the opportunity to ride for him with the new team.
"That's something really important to me, to go into a team where I'm a captain," he noted.
While commenting on his performance in the past two seasons, Haussler noted that he had starts but could not really capitalise on his performance which is something he will work in the current season.
The Swiss-based UCI Professional side, Team IAM Cycling looks good on paper as it hired some of the most talented cyclists.
It is hopeful to receive wild-card invitations for the Tour de Suisse and the Tour de Romandie 2013.
The final line-up for Team IAM Cycling is as include, Marcel Aregger, Marco Bandiera, Matthias Brandle, Rémi Cusin, Stefan Denifl, Martin Elmiger, Jonathan Fumeaux, Kristoff Goddaert, Heinrich Haussler, Sébastien Hinault, Reto Hollenstein and Kevyn Ista.
Dominic Klemme, Permin Lang, Gustav Larsson, Thomas Löfkvist, Matteo Pelucchi, Alexandr Pliuschin, Sébastien Reichenbach, Aleksejs Saramotins, Patrick Schelling, Johann Tschopp and Marcel Wyss all have been signed up by the Swiss team for 2013 season.
