Heinrich Haussler to get his strength back at the long awaited Vuelta
Heinrich Haussler of team Garmin Cervelo who has been struggling to find his form back since a couple of years and is hopeful for the upcoming Vuelta a Espana as he will be representing his team at the mega tour.
Haussler who had raced in Tour of Poland, mentioned that he was feeling good in the Tour but his major concern was that he was missing a mega event like Vuelta as mentioned on his website, “On one hand, I can see myself winning a sprint on one of the flat
stages, and on the other hand there won’t be any hard climbs on the mountain stage, so that I can come to the finish with the best here, too.”
Haussler represented Australia in the Olympics Test event earlier this week for the first time as he started his career as a German professional cyclist and officially turned an Australian cyclist in July 2010. His first mega event win was in 2005 with a
stage 19 win during Vuelta a Espana followed by a stage 13 win in Tour de France, 2009.
The 27-year-old believes that his tough time is now over and he will come up with his best performance in the coming seasons. It’s been a while since the cyclist has participated in a mega event as Vuelta next month will be his first since 2009.
Heinrich is looking forward to the tour as he believes that it will be helpful for his legs since he had not raced in any major event as he mentioned, “I’ll do the Vuelta because I need it for my legs” he further added, “I’ve not done a three weeks tour
in two years. It’s not just about the world’s training, though it’s also for the next year as well. ”
Christophe Le Mevel and Daniel Martin will be leading the team Garmin and will go for the overall win while Tyler Farrar will join Heinrich Haussler to strengthen the team’s sprinting department. Heinrich who will be expected to take on the stage wins in
time trials also believes that he will be trying his luck on the climbs as it can be helpful in getting his strength back.
