Question:

Heirloom tomato Question?

by  |  earlier

I planted 4 plants from a local nursery. Not a clue what kind. The tag says Heirloom tomatoes.

They are doing beautiful. Some are as big as beefsteaks.

My problem is, is that they are all still green and are showing no signs of ripening. They are also still really firm.

How should I know when to pick them?

Thanks in advance for all and any help!

  1. Heirloom tomatoes are great!!  Pick them when they are ripe (red or yellow). You can pick them green and fry them too, but they will ripen on the vine and taste best then.  Don't worry-they will ripen!!  Be patient.

  2. Pick when the fruit comes off the vine with gentle pulling....
